This brand was created in loving memory of our son Jason (“Jasey”), who filled our home with creativity, adventure, and immense joy. His toy chest was a daily treasure hunt—every morning, he’d pull out blocks, puzzles, musical instruments, costumes, and dinosaurs, creating magical worlds of his own making.
Every evening, we’d quietly return each toy to its place—ready for the next day’s adventure.
Our toys are a tribute to those memories and to the simple, magical moments that shape childhood.

About Us
Brian Bernstein
Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Brian grew up in a family of educators — his mother a guidance counselor, his father a longtime elementary school principal, and his extended family filled with teachers and school leaders. That upbringing sparked a lifelong passion for learning and child development. In 1999, he joined his brother Doug and sister-in-law Melissa in their small wood puzzle company, then called Lights, Camera, Interaction! Over the next two decades, he was a driving force in building Melissa & Doug into a globally recognized brand.
Lauren Bernstein
Co-Founder & Chief Mission Officer
Lauren is an accomplished classical pianist and teacher who has spent more than 30 years inspiring children to grow through music. As a mother raising a son and two daughters, she has dedicated her life to nurturing creativity, confidence, and resilience in young people. Her own journey navigating mental health challenges with her family has given her deep empathy for families seeking resources and connection. Lauren brings both heart and perspective to Jasey’s Toy Chest, helping shape its mission to support children and families everywhere.
